Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta successfully underwent prostate cancer surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. On Monday, June 16, his wife, Prof. Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, issued a statement confirming the development.
Mrs. Ofori-Atta described the procedure as a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy that took place on Friday, June 13, and lasted over four hours.
"The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime," according to the statement.
According to her, the month preceding the surgery was challenging, owing to the timing of a public alert issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) against her spouse.
"Kenneth has always demonstrated resilience. However, this has been extremely challenging, as the OSP chose to issue a red alert on him right before his operation," she explained.
Despite the emotional burden, she stated that Mr. Ofori-Atta is "bearing up well" and remains committed to regaining his health. She thanked everyone for their support and prayers throughout these trying times.
