Felix Gyamfi, Director-General of the Ghana National Service Authority (NSA), pledged to increase allowances for personnel. This comes after Service Personnel asked for a rise, citing rising inflation and living costs.
Speaking on 3FM Sunrise, Gyamfi indicated that the President is thinking about the move and working on a solution. He highlighted that the existing GHC715 allowance is insufficient, saying, "The current allowance (GHC715), I must say, is inadequate."
Discussions with the government are ongoing to change the GHC715 stipend to a more sustainable sum that can cushion our (Service Personnel) in these difficult times."
Gyamfi also tasked District Managers with ensuring the security and comfort of Service Personnel, saying, "District Managers should go back to getting accommodations for Service Personnel who are posted to their districts."
Gyamfi also noted that discussions are underway to provide brief military training for National Service Personnel, which is expected to begin this year.
