Olamilekan Olaitan, a home agent from the Odo Ado district of Ado-Ekiti, has been in difficulties after reportedly diverting a client's N225,000 (equal to GHS 1.5K) earmarked for rent into online gambling site Bet9ja.
According to accounts, Olaitan took the money under the guise of obtaining accommodation but did not provide any property.
When questioned by the Estate, Rent and Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN) task team, he admitted to utilizing the entire cash to play Bet9ja Virtual games.
The ERCAAN task group responded quickly, apprehending the perpetrator and subjecting him to public disciplinary action.
His activities were publicly condemned, and the group warned those participating in similar dishonest behavior to stop or face similar punishments.
The case has now been transferred to the police for further investigation and prosecution under the law.
