An Accra High Court has dismissed the petition brought by the Ghana Police Service to restrict a planned protest against unlawful mining in Ghana.
The court's ruling followed a request by Assistant State Attorney David Bachem, acting on the Attorney General's directives, to withdraw the application.
This latest verdict clears the door for the anti-galamsey protest, which is scheduled for April 28, 2025.
One of the protest organizers, television popular Okatakyie Afrifa, branded the initial motion to prevent the protest as bad faith.
The protest will begin at Obra Spot near Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, continue around the Ring Road, and end at Liberation Square, opposite the Jubilee House.
It is set to last from 4:00 p.m. on April 28 to 12:00 a.m. on April 29.
